Landing at Eagle (Vail)
We went out to Eagle, CO (Vail) this morning. Arrived at 8:30 local. The skies were mostly clear, we were at the front of the line, so we kept the power up. On about a 2 mile final, another aircraft aborted his takeoff, causing the tower controller to tell us to Go Around!
Go Around??? Are you crazy??? Have to go back 26 miles and get back in line???
Hell no!
Tell him to get that hunk of junk off the runway!
He turned off on the first taxi-way and we continued to a normal landing.
It was a Citation X that must have got a takeoff config warning, because he got back in line and eventually took off.
This is a frame from a video that I shot with with my digicam. The whole video is approx. 6 minutes long.

Down to Arches National Park
Yesterday, after getting our Slot into Eagle for Tues, John (the other pilot) and I went out siteseeing. We decided we'd go to Arches National Park, which is a 4-hour drive from where we're staying in Salt Lake,
but what the heck, we had a couple days!
So off we went, stopping once for a burger to go. We arrived at 2 pm and left the park at 6pm because it was dark. We stopped off at a little town called Green River and got gas and dinner at the best restaurant in town, a corner tap named Ray's.
My calves are a...little...sore today, but feeling better. It was 3 miles each way to Delicate Arch (seemed like uphill both ways!)
