Cold and Windy day

It was cold and very windy today as these waves (?) on man-made Creve Coeur Lake attest. The wind had gusts as high as 35 mph.

My friend Glenn Peck pinning the fabric from the Jenny together in preparation for sewing it together. These pieces cover the fuselage.

Break out the Air Hogs!

Thursday, Feb. 22.
It was unseasonable warm today, so we thought it right to take our Air Hogs out and knock a little of the rust off.

Landing at Eagle (Vail)

We went out to Eagle, CO (Vail) this morning. Arrived at 8:30 local. The skies were mostly clear, we were at the front of the line, so we kept the power up. On about a 2 mile final, another aircraft aborted his takeoff, causing the tower controller to tell us to Go Around!

Go Around??? Are you crazy??? Have to go back 26 miles and get back in line???

Hell no!

Tell him to get that hunk of junk off the runway!

He turned off on the first taxi-way and we continued to a normal landing.

It was a Citation X that must have got a takeoff config warning, because he got back in line and eventually took off.

This is a frame from a video that I shot with with my digicam. The whole video is approx. 6 minutes long.

Down to Arches National Park

Balanced Rock
Delicate Arch...worth the 3 Mile Hike!

Yesterday, after getting our Slot into Eagle for Tues, John (the other pilot) and I went out siteseeing. We decided we'd go to Arches National Park, which is a 4-hour drive from where we're staying in Salt Lake,
but what the heck, we had a couple days!

So off we went, stopping once for a burger to go. We arrived at 2 pm and left the park at 6pm because it was dark. We stopped off at a little town called Green River and got gas and dinner at the best restaurant in town, a corner tap named Ray's.

My calves are a...little...sore today, but feeling better. It was 3 miles each way to Delicate Arch (seemed like uphill both ways!)

Interview tomorrow/today...can't get to sleep...

Thurs. Morning...2/15

It's 12:47 AM...and I can't sleep. I have an interview tomorrow...er today. It's with a wonderful company and would be a lifetime position for me. Four of my friends already fly for them. Now, if I could just get to sleep...

Going away...

We heard today that our beloved Falcon is going away, sometime this fall. We don't know exactly when.
So I'm looking for a job...
Besides that, it's really cold out there!

Is it snowing yet...???

The kids had just got up. Sky's mom told him he didn't have school today. Both the kids went to the window to look for the snow, which we didn't have any of yet...
It started snowing right after they went to the window, big flakes.

5:15 comes awfully early...

I'm definitely not a morning person. And to get to work by 5:45 means having to leave the house at 5:15.
Most of the light blurs are business's alongside the highway that are open, but there was some traffic.

Slipping thru the Crack...

We had a dusting of snow last night. I thought it made a neat pattern on the storm drain. I was this leaf about to slip thru the cracks and thought of the metaphor right away.
